The Malibooz, which includes noted songwriter Walter Egan, former Spirit keyboardist Scott Monahan and guitarist/songwriter John Zambetti among its ranks, bring a little bit of sunshine into your home with this delightful modern-day surf album. This is a fun, unpretentious record full of good vibes, not to mention some pretty nifty instrumental embellishments (the manic guitars of "Shredder" and "Face Off at Point Dume"). The bands strongest asset, however, is the upbeat, infectious songs that "out beach" the Beach Boys with hooks and soaring harmonies ("Our Summer Love," "My Beloved Malibu"). It even comes with sea shells in the spine of the disc to help put you in the beach mood. MS
