THE MALIBOOZ RELEASE FOURTH ALBUM; BEACH GROUP SET FOR

APRIL 4TH KXLU-FM "SURFWAVE" RADIO INTERVIEW PROGRAM

The Malibooz to join The Sandals and The Blue Hawaiians for a live music show benefiting the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum on April 6th

MALIBU, Calif. -- March 30, 2002 -- The Malibooz, a surf and pop vocal band, featuring John Zambetti and Walter Egan, who have been playing and recording together since 1963, have just released their 4th full length album, "Beach Access," on the Pier Group record label. The initial pressing of the 13-song CD includes real sea shells in the spine of the jewel case - how’s that for regional identification?! Now if you can’t get to the beach, the beach can come to you!

The group, who recorded their first single, "Goin’ To Malibu," in 1965, are also confirmed for a radio appearance and interview, Thursday April 4th, on the popular "Surfwave" radio program, hosted by Jim Dunfrund, on KXLU-FM (88.9) at 11:00 p.m, as well as a Galaxy Theater concert in Santa Ana on Saturday evening, April 6th, starting at 6:00 p.m.

The Malibooz’ "Beach Access" also incorporates the drum skills of Bruce Gary, the original drummer in The Knack, whose 1979 debut single, "My Sharona," became Billboard magazine's #1 Rock Song of the Decade. And as far as playing and recording with The Malibooz is concerned? "It feels like home," Gary concludes. "Somehow I can’t shake my love for all things surf!"

The Malibooz are proud to announce that they will be performing in Santa Ana on Saturday evening, April 6th, at the Endless Summer Reunion Concert, a major fundraising event to benefit The Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum, a non-profit (501c3) Public Foundation. The unique event at The Galaxy Theater will bring together all the major principals involved in the 1966 documentary film, "The Endless Summer," for the first and only time, and will include personal appearances by Producer/Director Bruce Brown, Poster Designer John Van Hamersveld, and The Sandals, whose theme for the movie has become a classic standard of surf music. They will be performing together for the first time since 1968. Van Hamersveld’s poster for the film is easily the most recognized image of surfing culture. L.A. club band The Blue Hawaiians will also be on the bill.

The Galaxy Concert Theater, a full-service dinner theater serving food and beverages, is located at 3503 S. Harbor Blvd., one mile from the 405 Freeway. Doors open at 4 p.m., the concert starts at 6 p.m., and all ages are welcome. Tickets are $18 general admission, $30 reserved, $100 VIP, and are available at the Museum, (714) 960-3483, and The Galaxy, (714) 957-0600. Corporate Tables and Sponsorship Packages are available by contacting Robert Frederickson at (949) 457-3837.
